Hello Parents,
I hope you are having a wonderful week!
We have sent home forms for the upcoming field trip and the Nutritional Program. If you have not returned them yet, please do so as soon as possible. If you are still interested in volunteering for our field trip, we would love to have you! Please reach out at your earliest convenience.
Literacy
We continued working through our literacy centres this week, building reading and writing skills through a variety of engaging activities. Students also began editing sentences during centre time.
Social Studies / Writing
In Social Studies, students learned about why protected areas and parks are important for protecting land and natural resources. They also wrote opinion pieces on the question: “Should road builders build a new road and parking lot through a protected park in Alberta?” using the TIDE strategy. After completing their first draft, students shared their ideas in a circle discussion.
Math
This week, students continued reviewing algebra concepts and practice skip counting and multiplication charts. We also introduced fractions and practiced through hands-on centre activities.
Students enjoyed drawing Picasso-style faces while exploring geometric shapes and noticing how parts of a face can be arranged in different ways.
