IMPORTANT UPCOMING DATES
May 18 – Victoria Day – NO SCHOOL
May 21– Spirit Day - Cultural Diversity Day (Students can wear a traditional/cultural outfit); Fun Lunch - Pita Basket and Mr. Pretzel
June 11 - Wet Felting Program
The Grade 3 classes will participate in an engaging in-class wet felting program with Art Felt Studios (Calgary). Students will learn wet felting techniques and create an original art piece while connecting their learning to Social Studies, Science, and Fine Arts outcomes. A detailed parent letter will be sent home next week.
We are also looking for five parent volunteers per class to support this experience. Volunteers must have current CBE volunteer clearance. If you are interested and have not yet contacted your child’s teacher, please email them as soon as possible.
Dear Families,
Wishing everyone a wonderful and relaxing long weekend ahead! We hope you enjoy some extra time with family and friends.
Here is a quick update on what we have been learning in our classroom this week:
Reading
Students enjoyed a fun “book tasting” activity this week and spent time exploring a variety of texts during quiet reading. Many students were highly engaged and enjoyed discovering new books. Ask your child which genre they enjoyed the most!
Math
Students completed a short check-in on perimeter and have begun a “Design Your Zoo” project, applying their understanding of perimeter in a creative way. We will continue reviewing multiplication and division skills in the coming weeks.
Writing / Science
Students researched an animal of their choice and are now using their learning to write both fiction and non-fiction pieces. They are also connecting their research to food chains and the Science concepts we have been learning in class.
