April 20-23 Weekly Update

Hello Parents,

I hope you’ve been having a wonderful week! Here are a few highlights from our classroom:

Health and Wellness

This week, the students took part in a nutrition workshop where they learned about healthy eating using the food guide. They explored the differences between whole foods, processed foods, and ultra-processed foods. The class also had fun cutting and preparing ingredients, and enjoyed making and eating a tasty parfait together.

Earth Day
Students learned about the significance of Earth Day and explored ways to protect and care for our environment. They discussed responsible actions such as reducing waste, recycling, and conserving resources. Students then applied their learning by writing thoughtful letters to the Earth, expressing their understanding and commitment to helping the planet.

Literacy/Writing

We continued working through our literacy centres this week and are continuing to learn about story elements. Students have been refining and editing their circle stories, focusing on improving their ideas and organization.

Math
This week, students continue to practice multiplication charts to build fluency. We also completed a short “Show What You Know” (SWYK) on fractions.

Science
In Science, students are working on posters that show how energy moves from one living thing to another. We also explored simple food chains found in different environments.

P.E.
We played Drum Fit as a group and had lots of fun!
